Where to eat in Lima

CENTRAL

Lima Peru is a city of cheap eats, so when I drop $$$ on a meal, my expectations are through the roof. It was neat to see food interpretations of Peru’s different altitudes. All the dishes were beautifully made with special attention to detail. Some I loved, and others not so much, but that’s the style of this kind of meal. The service was not anything special when you compare it to restaurants at this price point.

Would I recommend? Yes, if you have some money to spend.

Would I come back? No.

BAM BAM

This spot is right outside Mercado 1, and was recommended by someone local. [Bro] their ceviche is bomb. We were a party of eight and with my broken Spanish I ordered something family sized… and this is what I got. The whole group ate like kings and queens for $70 total. It was a lot of food. A Pyrex container type - a lot. See the photos for food to person proportions.

MERCADO 138

Welcome to the hipster dipster land of beautiful food. This food court is gorgeous and has SO many options. I got so excited by all the stalls that I ordered at 3 of them. This is a great place to come and hang out and get a good meal.

TANTA

I love me some Lomo Saltado, and this is the place to get it. Although it’s a chain, the food here is delicious. Get the Lomo Saltado, the salsa picante, and the empanadas de gallina! A rec from some friends on the trip - get the Lomo Saltado con Spaguetti- sounds strange but tastes delicious!

LIMA COLORS AND FLAVORS - HAKU FOOD TOUR

This is like a Central experience for super cheap ($60) - with so much food that your head explodes. You can book it on Trip Advisor or on Haku Tours, and these guys are super responsive on WhatsApp. See here for the full post.

Would I recommend? Yes.

Would I take another Haku tour? Yes.

The food in Peru is unique and influenced by different cultures. If you’re passing through to Cusco, I recommend stopping a couple days in Lima for the food.
