Riding down Highway 1 is one of those things: it sounds so romantic and relaxing in theory, but it's actually quite a bit of work in practice. Regardless, it's still beautiful. Here's a guide to riding down Highway 1. (Strava Route)
Traffic: It's Highway 1, so you have to vigilant of drivers. People like to speed on this road, and proper safety gear is important so you are seen. The road is windy & there are many blind turns.
Conditions: If you start early in the morning, there's a chance it will be quite foggy. Also, since it's the coast, it will be quite cold in the morning, especially if it's foggy. The roads are pretty smooth, but there are quite a few bumpy spots towards the end of the ride (around mile 40).
