Here’s a no-frills Oahu itinerary for the beach bum that wants to get a little bit of exercise in. It should keep you occupied up to 5 days. OH- if you’re a last minute planner- make sure you AT LEAST book Kualoa Ranch. And if you’re a smarty pants, you’ll also book a reservation at Hanuma Bay, which I wasn’t able to visit because I did not plan well. I digress.

Hiking the Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail

Stunning views & not too difficult of a hike. I’d recommend getting there early because parking is a bit of a nightmare.

Poke at Foodland and Tamura’s

I tried Ono Seafood, and it was alright. I’m a die-hard Foodland / Tamura’s poke fan.

Pro Tip: Buy yourself a cooler, get some chips + poke, and head to the beach.

Shaved Ice at Matsumoto Shaved Ice

Everyone will tell you to go to Wailoa Shave Ice, but trust me this place is bomb. BUT it does get busy.

Coffee & Brunch at Arvo Café

I know it’s a basic little café, but the food is decent and the coffee and tea is great. For a hearty breakfast, I’d recommend the meatballs. For something light, get the a ricotta or avocado toast. Also - their fruit tea is excellent. This is the perfect snack before a day of hiking and snorkeling.

Beaching, Snorkeling, and a Drink at Turtle Bay Resort

If you want the resort feel without the resort prices, grab a coffee here & chill for a bit. The view is gorgeous. Once you’re caffeinated, go rent a cabana on the beach and do a little snorkeling.

Bonus (for the non last-minute planners): Zip Line at Kualoa Ranch

Jurassic Park is one of many movies filmed at this location. Remember Nicki Minaj’s Starships? Part of that video was filmed here too. I remember when I first watched that video, I desperately wanted to visit Oahu. Turns out part of the video was filmed in Kauai. Back to business - you have to book a tour in advance. Trust me. The guides are great.
