Tommy - Your margaritas are NOT the best.
7 x 7 rated Tommy's Mexican's Restaurant's "Tommy's Margarita" as the best margarita in SF. If this is really the case, I'm going to quit my job and start a margarita bar because clearly there is very little competition.
The margarita was ok - a little sweet - but not bad - not excellent, but certainly not the best margarita I have ever had.
Price: $9 - not bad for SF.
I would consider this a baseline for how margaritas should taste. Margaritas shouldn't be allowed to be a standard deviation worse than this. I mean maybe the 7 x 7 critics tossed back a few of these before they decided it was the best margarita (it is quite an alcoholic margarita). The presentation of the margarita was just bleh.
I actually liked the salsa better than I liked the margarita...
Upon looking at the food menu - I saw there was nothing unique - and I asked to be moved to the bar- so they were able to seat actual customers at the table. I experienced quite a bit of sass from some of the waiters and was almost bullied into buying food from the bartender. Excuse me- I moved to the bar as a courtesy- I don't need to be bothered or guilted into purchasing your unoriginal food.
Had your service been significantly better, I may have actually come back for a margarita.
The Bottom Line
Salsa: 4 - it was quite spicy, which is a good thing
Margarita: 3
Ambiance: 3 - nothing special
Service: 2.5- I feel bad because one of the waiters was actually nice. Unfortunately, everyone else was a bully.
Would I come back? No
I continue to lose faith in 7 x 7 and faith in the margaritas this town can offer.
