Initially, the thought of camping was terrifying. Why would I want to go sleep outdoors on the ground - where there are bugs!?
After many camping trips and a few wilderness meltdowns, I've learned the value of packing certain creature comforts. I mean- I know you're outdoors, but that doesn't mean you have to freeze your butt off.
Okay. So it helps if you're within 3 1/2 hours driving distance of this national park, but this blueprint can be used for other spontaneous adventures as well.
Let's say you wanted to go to the Grand Canyon... or Big Bend... or do a West Coast Road Trip. Whatever it is, I encourage you to DO IT. What's the worst that could happen? Fly by the seat of your pants!
It's Day 6.2 of the 9 day journey through New Zealand's North and South Island. Sleep levels are low, but morale is high. The camper van was a good decision.
